iuvo Expands Analytical Chemistry Capabilities

DECEMBER 21, 2016 – RUSH, NY – iuvo BioScience announced today the expansion of their analytical chemistry footprint and recent additions to the Company’s analytical chemistry capabilities, as it brings on additional instrumentation and infrastructure to provide more complete offerings to both the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.

The Company has recently added liquid chromatography / mass spectrometry (LC/MS) as well as ion chromatography (IC) instruments to its stable of offerings, along with additional environmental chambers to round out its capabilities for offering stability studies.  The analytical lab footprint was more than doubled to accommodate this additional capability.

“We’re excited to bring these capabilities on line,” iuvo President and CEO Ben Burton stated.  “Our plan has always been to continually broaden our offerings and leverage the tremendous capabilities of our staff, and these investments help move us closer to our target.”

Dr. Chris Houston, Ph.D., iuvo’s Director of Analytical Chemistry, further elaborated on the offerings.  “The Orbitrap-based LC/MS system we acquired enables high resolution accurate mass measurements to facilitate the identification of unknowns and the addition of IC further rounds out the nature of what we can separate and analyze,” Dr. Houston stated.

“Both these instruments will be critical in enabling us to provide full service ISO 10993-18 chemical characterization studies for the medical device industry, along with extractable and leachable studies for our pharmaceutical clients.”

The new environmental stability chambers enable the Company to add additional ICH testing conditions for stability studies in house, complementing the new instrumentation.  The Company plans to complete validations and qualifications in early 2017.
