Antimicrobial efficacy testing is used to determine the effectiveness of killing microbes. iuvo is able to evaluate the antimicrobial and biocidal activity of various pharmaceutical and ophthalmic products following a number of compendial monographs and international standards.
Our services include the following:
- Antimicrobial/Preservative Efficacy Testing: USP <51> / ISO 14730 – A preserved product is challenged with a representative range of microorganisms to establish the viability loss at predetermined time intervals. The ISO 14730 testing satisfies the requirements outlined in the 1997 Guidance Document for Contact Lens Care Products.
- Stand Alone Test and Regimen Test: ISO 14729 – The Stand Alone Test is designed to assess the antimicrobial activity of a lens care product and the Regimen Test is designed to qualify solutions as part of a contact lens disinfecting regimen. This testing also satisfies the requirements outlined in the 1997 Guidance Document for Contact Lens Care Products.
- Antimicrobial Finishes on Textile Materials: AATCC 100-2004 – This test method provides a quantitative assessment of the antimicrobial activity of treated textiles.
- Assessment of Antimicrobial Activity Using a Time-Kill Procedure: ASTM E2315-16 – This method is used to measure the change in population of select microorganisms over pre-determined time intervals with antimicrobial test materials present.
